Audio system information does not display on the display panel (without navigation) or audio-HVAC subdisplay unit (with navigation). The HVAC controls may also be affected.1. Check for DTCs in the display panel control unit.
Are there any DTCs?
YES - Troubleshoot the DTCs.
NO - Go to step 2.
2. Disconnect display panel control unit connector A (22P).
3. Disconnect audio unit connector C (40P).
4. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (40P) terminals and display panel control unit connector A (22P) terminals according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Repair open in the wire between the audio unit and the display panel control unit or replace the appropriate shielded harness.
5. Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector C (40P) terminals according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short in the wire between the audio unit and the display panel control unit.
NO - Go to step 6.
6. Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector C (40P) terminals according to the table. Then check for continuity between the terminals in the table and audio connector C (40P) No. 10 terminal (the harness shield).
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short in the wire between the audio unit and the display panel control unit, or replace the appropriate shielded harness.
NO
- Without navigation: Go to step 7.
- With navigation: Go to step 10.
7. Substitute a known-good display panel.
8. Reconnect all connectors.
9. Check the display.
Does the display operate properly?
YES - Replace the display panel control unit.
NO - Replace the audio unit.
10. Check the connections at the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P) and the display panel control unit connector E (22P).
Are the connectors and terminals connected properly?
YES - Go to step 11.
NO - Repair the connection and recheck.
11. Disconnect the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P).
12. Disconnect the display panel control unit connector E (22P).
13. Check for continuity between the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P) and the display panel control unit connector E (22P) terminals for each wire according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 13.
NO - Repair open in the wire between the display panel control unit and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit, or replace the appropriate shielded harness.
14. Check for continuity between audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P) terminal and body ground according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short to ground in the wire between the display panel control unit and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.
NO - Go to step 15.
15. Check for continuity between each audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P) terminal and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between the terminals in the table and display panel control unit connector E (22P) No. 8 terminal (the harness shield).
Is there continuity?
YES - Short to ground in the wire between the display panel control unit and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit. Replace the appropriate shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 16.
16. Substitute a known-good audio-HVAC subdisplay unit and recheck.
Does the subdisplay work properly?
YES - Replace the original audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.
NO - Substitute a known-good display panel control unit and retest. If the problem is gone, replace the original display panel control unit.
