USB Device Does Not Function (With Navigation)

Symptom Troubleshooting: USB device does not function

USB device does not function (with navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first.

- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

- Make sure you have the client's USB device to use for testing.

- Not all players and player functions work with the USB jack. Please see the owner's manual for more information. Always test the clients USB device in a known-good vehicle of the same year and trim (if possible). Technologies change and are updated frequently which may result in that USB devices may work in newer vehicles, but not in older vehicles of the same model.

- Make sure that the music player connected to the USB port works properly.

- The USB memory used for testing should conform to the "USB mass storage class" standard.

- The USB function is not compatible with a USB memory of 128 MB or less.

- The music must be saved to the player as WMA (Windows Media Audio) files or MP3. MP3 files saved in a variable bit rate are not compatible.

1. Connect a known-good music player to the USB jack.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

3. Press the AUX button, and check if it changes to USB mode.

Does it change to the USB mode?
YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Check the navigation system error code. How to Troubleshoot the Navigation System (With Navigation)

4. Check for sound in each mode (AM, FM, XM and CD).

Is the sound normal?
YES - Check that there is no dirt or damage in the USB jack. If the USB jack is OK, the music player is either defective or incompatible.

NO - Go to no sound is heard from the speaker(s). No Sound Is Heard From the Speaker(s) (Display Is Normal) (With Navigation)
