Steering Column Lock: Testing and Inspection




Key Interlock Solenoid Test

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations, precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or servicing.

1. Remove the steering column cover Service and Repair.

2. Disconnect the steering lock assembly connector.

3. Turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY (I).

4. Connect power to steering lock assembly connector terminal No. 4, and ground to steering lock assembly connector terminal No. 3. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0). Disconnect power, and check that the key can be turned to the LOCK (0) position and removed from the cylinder.





5. If the key interlock solenoid works improperly, replace the steering lock assembly Service and Repair.
