DTC 1801: HIP Error

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first. Testing and Inspection

- Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the general troubleshooting information. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

- Check for and resolve any B-CAN DTCs before troubleshooting.

- Check any official Honda service website for any service information about the AcuraLink or software updates.

1. Clear the hard error code. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).

3. Check for a hard error code. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Is DTC 1801 indicated?
YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.


4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

5. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P), and navigation unit connector D (5P).

Are the connections OK?
YES - Go to step 6.

NO - Repair poor connections or loose terminals in the applicable connector.


6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

7. Check for XM (HIP) communication with the HDS.

Does the XM (HIP) communicate with the HDS?
YES - Go to step 8.

NO - Go to the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) troubleshooting.


8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

9. Disconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and navigation unit connector D (5P).

10. Check for continuity between the terminals of AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) according to the table.





Is there continuity between any of terminals?
YES - There is a short in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 11.






11. Check for continuity between body ground and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No. 17, No. 18, No. 19, and No. 20 individually.

Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short to body ground in the wire. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 12.






12. Connect the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No. 17, No. 18, No. 19, and No. 20 to body ground with jumper wires.






13. Check for continuity between body ground and navigation unit connector D (5P) terminals No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 individually.

Is there continuity?
YES - Replace the navigation unit. Service and Repair

NO - There is an open in the wire(s) between the navigation unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver). Replace the affected shielded harness.
