Starter Removal and Installation
Removal
1. Remove the engine compartment covers. Service and Repair
2. Remove the intake air separator. Engine Removal
3. Do the battery removal procedure. Removal and Replacement
4. Remove the battery base. Engine Removal
5. Remove the harness clamp (A).
6. Disconnect the positive starter cable (B) and the S terminal connector (C).
7. Remove the upper radiator hose bracket (D) and the dipstick (E), then disconnect the vacuum hose (F).
8. Remove the two bolts holding the starter, then remove the starter.
Installation
1. Install the starter, then tighten the mounting bolts (A).
NOTE: Always use a new gasket.
2. Connect the vacuum hose (B), then install the upper radiator hose bracket (C) and the dipstick (D).
3. Connect the positive starter cable (E) and the S terminal connector (F). Make sure the crimped side of the ring terminal faces away from the starter when you connect it.
4. Install the harness clamp (G).
5. Install the battery base. Engine Installation
6. Do the battery installation procedure. Removal and Replacement
7. Start the engine to make sure the starter works properly.
8. Install the intake air separator. Engine Installation
9. Install the engine compartment covers. Service and Repair
