72 11 001 Removing and installing/replacing front seat belt completely on the front left







IMPORTANT:
Read and comply with safety instructions for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical belt tensioners.
Inexpert handling can trigger off the airbag or the belt pretensioner and thereby cause injuries.
If a seat belt which is damaged due to an accident is exchanged, always check the affected seat for damage.







Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove front seat, driver's side
- Remove Outer cover
- Remove seat belt extender cover
- Partially detach backrest cover for the driver's side







Installation note:
- Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
- Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of hardening)
- Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened
- Clean thread of nut beforehand in event of repeated use







Unclip the rear cover on the seat in direction of arrow and remove.

Installation note:
Preassemble metal clamps (1) in cover.







Release screws (1).
Remove the seat belt extender cover from the seat mechanism in direction of arrow.







Release screws (1).
Remove the upper part of the seat belt extender from the upper backrest.







Release screw (1).

Installation note:
Replace microencapsulated screw.
Tightening torque 72 11 02AZ.
End fitting is coded against incorrect assembly.







Unlock connector (1) and pull out of connector housing.







Pull the metal clamp (1) off the seat mechanism.
Release screw (2).
Remove inertia reel unit.
Tightening torque 72 11 01AZ.

Installation note:
Inertia reel is coded to prevent incorrect installation.
Make sure metal clamp is securely seated.







Installation note:
Seat belt strap must not be twisted when in the installed condition.
Check seat belt for correct function.
