72 11 002 Removing and installing/replacing front seat belt (complete)
IMPORTANT:
Read and comply with safety instructions for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical belt tensioners.
Inexpert handling can trigger off the airbag or the belt pretensioner and thereby cause injuries.
If a seat belt which is damaged due to an accident is exchanged, always check the affected seat for damage.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove front passenger seat
- Remove Outer cover
- Remove belt deflector cover
- Partially detach seat-back cover for front passenger seat
Installation note:
- Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
- Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of hardening)
- Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened
- Clean thread of nut beforehand in event of repeated use
Unclip and remove the rear cover from the seat in the direction of arrow.
Installation note:
Preassemble the metal clamps (1) in the cover.
Release screws (1).
Remove the belt deflector cover from the seat mechanism in the direction of the arrow.
Release screws (1).
Remove the upper part of the belt deflector from the top backrest.
Release screw (1).
Installation note:
Replace microencapsulated screw.
Tightening torque 72 11 02AZ.
End fitting is coded against incorrect assembly.
Unlock connector (1) and pull out of connector housing.
Detach the metal clamp (1) from the seat mechanism.
Release screw (2).
Remove inertia reel unit.
Tightening torque 72 11 01AZ.
Installation note:
Inertia reel is coded to prevent incorrect installation.
Make sure the metal clamp is securely seated.
Installation note:
Belt strap must not be twisted when in the installed condition.
Check seat belt for function.
