A nylon retainer is used to retain the rocker arm. Break them below their heads with a chisel or pry out with channel lock pliers, Fig. 7. Production rocker arms can be installed in any sequence since the rocker arms are identical. Replacement rocker arms are identified with a stamping indicating right (R) or left (L), Fig. 8, and must be installed as shown in Fig. 9. To install, position rocker arm on shaft and center over 1/4 inch hole in shaft. Install new rocker arm retainers using a 1/2 inch drift. Torque rocker shaft bolts to 25 ft. lbs.
