Campaign - Low Vacuum Brake Module Not Installed: Overview

Model Year: 1985

Bulletin No.: 85-C-15

File in Group: 8

Number: 22

Date: Feb. 1986
SUBJECT: LOW VACUUM BRAKE MODULE NOT INSTALLED

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 ELECTRAS WITH 4.3L DIESEL ENGINES (VIN ENGINE CODE T)

CONDITION

General Motors has determined that some 1985 Electras equipped with diesel engines may have been assembled without the low vacuum brake module. Without this module, the "brake" warning light located above the speedometer would not be turned on if the vacuum in the brake booster should go to a low level.

DEALER ACTION

To correct this condition, dealers are to check to determine if the module was installed on vehicles involved and, if required, install the module. Dealers are to service all vehicles subject to this campaign at no charge to the owner, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership, from this time forward.

Whenever a vehicle subject to this campaign is taken into your new or used vehicle inventory, or it is in your dealership for service in the future, you should take the steps necessary to be sure the campaign correction has been made before reselling or releasing the vehicle.

Owners of vehicles recently sold from your new vehicle inventory are to be contacted by the dealer, and arrangements made to make the required modification according to instructions contained in this bulletin.
