Injection Pump Replace

REMOVAL
1. Remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Remove crankcase ventilation filter and pipes from valve cover and air crossover.
3. Remove air crossover, Fig. 47, and install suitable intake screen covers.
4. Remove fuel lines, filter and fuel pump as an assembly. Plug all openings.
5. Remove throttle and T.V. cables from intake manifold brackets and position aside.
6. Disconnect fuel return line from injection pump.
7. Disconnect injection line clamps that are closest to the pump.
8. Disconnect injection lines from pump and plug all openings. Then carefully reposition lines to gain enough clearance to remove pump.
9. Remove two bolts retaining injection pump.
10. Remove pump and discard pump to adapter O-ring.

INSTALLATION
1. Position No. 1 cylinder at firing position by aligning mark on balance with zero mark on indicator located at front of engine.
2. Align offset tang on pump drive shaft with pump driven gear, Fig. 48.
3. Install new pump to adapter O-ring, then install pump.
4. If a new intermediate adapter is installed, set injection pump at center of slots in pump mounting flange. If original intermediate adapter is being used, align pump timing mark with mark on intermediate adapter. Install two bolts and washers retaining pump and torque bolts to 35-37 ft. lbs.
5. Reverse steps 1 through 8 of removal procedure for remainder of installation. If necessary adjust T.V. cable, pump timing, vacuum regulator valve or idle speed.
