TURBO WASTEGATE SOLENOID

3.8L TURBO "G" SERIES

FUEL INJECTION (PORT)

The wastegate solenoid allows the ECM to increase turbo boost beyond the precalibrated level that is normally controlled by the wastegate actuator assembly.
Code 31 is set when:
a. The ECM is commanding a wastegate duty cycle between 5 and 95%.
b. No voltage pulses received on wastegate monitor.
c. Both of the above conditions must be met for more than 5 seconds.

Fig. 031 - Chart - Code 31 Wastegate Solenoid Electrical Diagnosis:

1. Checks to see if CKT 928 is shorted to ground.
2. Tests for open CKT 928 to the ECM, grounding the diagnostic test terminal should turn "ON" the test light.
3. Locates the source of an open or short to voltage that is the problem.
