Drive Link, Sprockets & Sprocket Cover
Inspection1. Inspect drive link for damage.
2. Inspect sprockets for nicks, burrs, scoring or galling.
3. Inspect bearing for pitted or rough conditions.
4. If removal of bearing from either sprocket is necessary, proceed as follows:
a. Remove sprocket-to-bearing assembly snap ring, see image.
b. Mount sprocket with bearing side down on two pieces of wooden blocks.
c. Using a hammer and brass drift, drive inner race alternately through each of the access openings, until bearing assembly is removed, see image.
5. Inspect journals and splines for wear or damage.
6. Inspect lubrication passages to make sure they are not damaged or obstructed.
7. Inspect sprocket cover for flatness along the gasket surface.
8. Inspect turbine shaft oil seal ring for cuts, damage and free fit in groove.
Assembly & Installation
1. If removed, install sprocket bearing assemblies as follows:
a. Install sprocket support to bearing assembly snap ring around sprocket hub.
b. Place bearing assembly on driven sprocket hub. On drive sprocket, position bearing-assembly locating mark above locating pin, see image.
c. Using tool J-6133, drive bearing assembly onto hub of sprocket until it is resting on bearing seat of sprocket.
d. Install sprocket to bearing assembly snap ring into groove in sprocket hub.
2. If necessary, install oil seal ring on turbine shaft. Turbine shaft may appear not to be pressed fully into sprockets. Do not attempt pressing shaft into sprocket further as a specific Length dimension is held during initial assembly.
3. Place drive link around drive and driven sprockets so that links engage teeth of sprocket that have colored guide link with etched numerals facing sprocket cover.
4. Place drive link, drive and driven sprockets into sprocket-supports.
5. Using a plastic mallet, gently seat the sprocket-bearing assemblies into the sprocket-supports.
6. Using snap ring pliers, install sprocket assembly to sprocket-support snap ring, see image.
