Removal

Rear Brake Pipes And Hoses:




- Raise vehicle and support on jack stands.
- Mark relationship of wheel to axle flange, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Mark relationship of brake drum to axle flange.
- Remove brake drum.
- Clear dirt and foreign material around wheel cylinder inlet and pilot.

CAUTION: Do not pull metal line away from cylinder, as this may kink or bend line. Line will separate from cylinder when cylinder is moved away from brake backing plate.

- Remove inlet tube nut and line.
- Plug opening in line to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

Wheel Cylinder:




Removing Wheel Cylinder Retainer:




- Remove wheel cylinder retainer using two awls or pins (1/8 inch diameter or less).
- Insert awls or pins into access slots between wheel cylinder pilot and retainer locking tabs, then bend both tabs away simultaneously.
- Remove wheel cylinder.
