A/C - Intermittent Cycling Or Blown Fuse
Bulletin 85-1-19
Date Apr. '85
Ref. No. 85-213-1
SUBJECT: AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR HIGH PRESSURE SWITCH AND CUTOUT SWITCH WIRING REPAIR
MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 SOMERSET
AIR CONDITIONING ASSEMBLY:
Some 1985 Somerset vehicles equipped with 2.5L 4 cylinder engine and air conditioning may experience a blown heater-A/C fuse, intermittent high pressure switch cycling or intermittent compressor clutch cycling (normal clutch cycles only on wide open throttle or full turn).
This condition may be the result of the A/C compressor switch wiring and cutout switch wiring shorting against the exhaust pipe.
To repair the condition, correct the shorted wiring. Add a tie strap (P/N 3816659) and strap the wiring to the air conditioning pipe by the A/C muffler (See illustration).
