Fuel - No Start, Stalls, Runs Rough, Pump Fuse Blown

Bulletin 85-6E-6

Date Mar. '85

Ref. No. 85-176-6E
SUBJECT: INTERMITTENT OR CONSTANT ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE, OR ENGINE WILL NOT START OR RUN

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 SOMERSET REGAL WITH 2.5L ENGINE (VIN CODE U)

COMPONENT LOCATION:

Some 1985 Somerset Regals equipped with the 2.5 liter engine may exhibit a no-start or no run condition, or an interrmittent, or constant rough running engine. The fuel pump fuse may also be blown.

The above condition may be caused by the shorting of the fuel pump test lead against the left hand transmission mount bracket..

To repair the shorted wire condition, locate the fuel pump test lead and repair the shorted wire. Place any protruding wire lead back into the large engine harness and tape the conduit closed. Be certain to expose the connector lead. See illustration.
