Oil Pressure Warning Lamp/Indicator: Testing and Inspection

Engine Sensors - VIN U:

Engine Sensors - VIN L:

Vehicle Speed Sensor And Oil Pressure Relay Location:

Oil Pressure Switch Sender Connector:

1. If the oil pressure warning indicator does not light with the ignition switch in the RUN position before the engine is started, remove the connector C2 from the oil pressure relay. Ground terminal C (TAN).
a. If the indicator bulb does not light, check the bulb. If the bulb is good, locate and repair the open in the TAN(31) wire between the relay and the cluster.
b. If the indicator bulb now lights, check the ground at terminal A (BLK) of connector C1 at the oil pressure relay.
c. If C1-A is open, locate and repair the open in the BLK(151) wire to G201.
d. If C1-A is grounded, install a new oil pressure relay.

2. If the oil pressure warning indicator bulb is always on, first check the oil pressure with a manual gauge. If the pressure is good, continue with the electrical diagnosis. Remove the connector from the oil pressure switch/sender and connect a fused jumper between the TAN/WHT wire and the PNK (V6) or ORG/BLK (L4) wire.
a. If the OIL bulb goes out, install a new oil pressure switch/sender.
b. If the OIL bulb remains on.
1. Check for battery voltage on the PNK (V6) or ORG/BLK (L4) wire. If not present, troubleshoot the (639) wire back to the fuse.
2. Check for more than 5 ohms and less than 50 ohms to ground at the TAN/WHT wire. If this resistance is not correct, check that terminal B of C2 on the oil pressure relay is grounded. If the ground is good, install a new oil pressure relay.
