Playing A Compact Disc

Insert a CD partway into the slot, label side up. The player will pull the CD in. The CD should begin playing. The display will show CD symbol. If you want to insert a compact CD with the ignition OFF, first press DISP or EJT.

If you're driving on a very rough road or if the temperature is very high, the CD may not play and ERR (error) may appear on the display. When the abnormal condition is resolved, the CD should play. If the CD comes out, test the following conditions:
^ The CD is upside down.
^ The CD is dirty, scratched or wet.
^ The humidity is high. (If so, wait about an hour and try again).

PREV (1): Press this button in order to go to the previous track if the current selection has been playing for less than 8 seconds. If you press the PREV button while the current selection has been playing for more than 8 seconds, the current selection will repeat. TRACK and the track number will appear on the display. If you hold the button or press the button more than once, the player will continue moving back through the CD. The sound will mute while seeking.

NEXT (2): Press this button in order to go to the next track. TRACK and the track number will appear on the display. If you hold the button or press the button more than once, the player will continue moving forward through the CD. The sound will mute while seeking.

REV (3): Press and hold this button in order to reverse quickly within a track.. Release the button in order to play the passage. The display will show ET and the elapsed time.

FWD (4): Press and hold this button in order to advance quickly within a track. Release the button in order to play the passage. The display will show ET and the elapsed time.

RDM (5): Press this button in order to hear the tracks in random, rather than sequential, order. RDM ONE will show on the display. RDM T and the track number will appear on the display when each track starts to play. Press RDM again in order to turn off random play. RDM OFF will appear on the display.

DISP: Press this button in order to see how long the current track has been playing. ET and the elapsed time will appear on the display. In order to change what is normally shown on the display (track or elapsed time), press the button until you see the display you want, then hold the button for two seconds.

AM-FM: Press this button in order to play the radio when a CD is in the player. The CD will stop but remain in the player.

CD: With a CD in the player and the radio playing, press this button in order to play a CD. Press AM-FM in order to return to the radio when a CD is playing. The inactive CD will remain safely inside the radio for future listening.

TAPE-CD: With a cassette tape in the player and the radio playing, press this button in order to play cassette tape. Press AM-FM in order to return to the radio station when a cassette tape is playing. Press TAPE-CD in order to switch between the cassette tape and CD if both are loaded. The inactive cassette tape or CD will remain safely inside the radio for future listening.

EJECT: Press the upward triangle button in order to remove a CD. The radio will play. Eject may be activated with the radio OFF. You may load the CD when the radio is OFF if you press this button first.
