Dash Panel Reinforcement Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
2. Pull back the carpet.
3. Disconnect the accelerator cable and pedal.
* For the 3.4 L engine, refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement in Engine Controls.
* For the 3.8 L engine, refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement in Engine Controls.
4. Disconnect the column automatic transaxle range selector lever cable from the dash panel reinforcement, if equipped. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement (New Cable Installation Only) Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement (At Manual Shaft) Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement (At Console Shift Control) Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement (At Column Shift Control) in Transmission/Transaxle.
5. Remove the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
6. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the instrument panel harness.
8. Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to push the instrument panel harness grommet through the dash panel reinforcement.
9. Remove the instrument panel harness through the dash panel reinforcement.
10. Remove the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Tie Bar / Cross Vehicle Beam) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
11. Remove the nuts from the dash panel reinforcement.
12. Remove the dash panel reinforcement from the dash.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the dash panel reinforcement to the dash.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the nuts to the dash panel reinforcement.
Tighten the dash panel nuts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. Install the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Tie Bar / Cross Vehicle Beam) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
4. Install the instrument panel harness through the dash panel reinforcement.
5. Use a small flat-bladed tool in order to push the instrument panel harness grommet through the dash panel reinforcement and seat grommet into the dash panel reinforcement.
6. Connect the electrical connectors to the instrument panel harness.
7. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
8. Install the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
9. Connect the column automatic transaxle range selector lever cable to the dash panel reinforcement, if equipped. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement (New Cable Installation Only) Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement (At Manual Shaft) Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement (At Console Shift Control) Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement (At Column Shift Control) in Transmission/Transaxle.
10. Connect the accelerator cable and pedal.
* For the 3.4 L engine, refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement in Engine Controls.
* For the 3.8 L engine, refer to Accelerator Control Cable Replacement in Engine Controls.
11. Put the carpet back.
12. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
