Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the serpentine belt.
3. Remove the water pump pulley.
CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.
4. Raise the vehicle.
5. Remove the right front splash shield.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the camshaft position sensor.
7. Remove the camshaft position sensor retaining screw.
8. Remove the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor from the engine front cover.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the camshaft position sensor to the engine front cover.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the camshaft position sensor retaining bolt.
Tighten:
Tighten the bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
3. Connect the camshaft position sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the serpentine belt.
5. Install the water pump pulley.
Tighten:
Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
6. Install the right front splash shield.
CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.
7. Lower the vehicle.
