Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURETools Required

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the serpentine belt(s) from the crankshaft pulley.
3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in Vehicle Lifting.
4. Remove the right front wheel and tire assembly.
5. Remove the right inner fender access cover.
6. Remove the crankshaft harmonic balancer.
7. Remove the crankshaft position sensor shield (1) (Do Not use a pry bar).
8. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
9. Remove the attaching bolts from the crankshaft position sensor.
10. Remove the crankshaft position sensor from block face.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor to the block.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the bolts to hold the CKP sensor to the block face.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 20-40 N.m (14-28 lb ft).
3. Reinstall the crankshaft position sensor shield (3).
4. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
5. Reinstall the crankshaft harmonic balancer on the crankshaft.
6. Install the right inner fender access cover.
7. Install the right front wheel and tire assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N.m (104 lb ft).
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Install the serpentine belt(s).
10. Perform the CKP System Variation Learn Procedure. Programming and Relearning
