SIR Disabling and Enabling

Disabling Procedure





Important:
Refer to SIR Service Precautions SIR Service Precautions.


1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.

2. Turn OFF the ignition.

3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.

4. Remove the fuse box cover.

Important:
With the F1 fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.


5. Remove the F1 fuse.





6. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the side impact module - LF connector (1) located under the driver seat.

7. Disconnect the side air impact module - LF connector (1).

Enabling Procedure





1. Connect the inflatable restraint side impact module - LF connector (1) located under the driver seat.

2. Install the CPA to the side impact module - LF connector (1).

3. Remove the F1 Fuse.

4. Install the fuse box cover.

5. Staying well away from all inflator modules and pretensioners, turn ON the ignition.

* The AIR BAG indicator will flash 7 times.

* The AIR BAG indicator will then turn OFF.

6. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - SIR if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - SIR Diagnostic System Check - SIR.
