Folding Top Headlining Trim Panel Replacement

Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.



Removal Procedure

Important: Note the routing of the string fasteners located at the number 5 bow prior to removal.







1. Position the folding top with the number 1 and number 5 bow up.
2. Release and fold back the folding top cover from the number 1 and number 5 bows. Refer to Folding Top Cover Replacement (Folding Top Cover Replacement) .




3. Remove the screws (1) securing the headliner retaining bracket and headliner to the number 1 bow.




4. Remove the screws (1) securing the headliner retainer bracket (2) to the rear side rail on both sides.
5. Remove the headliner from the retainer bracket.




6. Drill out the rivet (1) securing the end of the string fastener to the number 5 bow.




7. Slide the headliner material out of the number 2, 3 and 4 bows.



Installation Procedure





1. Slide the headliner material into the number 2, 3, and 4 bows.

1. Start the material approximately 1 inch into the number 2, 3 and 4 bows.
2. Slide the material simultaneously with in the bows to avoid binding.

2. Route the string fasteners as noted in the removal procedure.




3. Install a rivet (1) to secure the end of the string fastener to the number 5 bow.




4. Install the headliner material into the headliner retainer bracket (2).
5. Position the bracket (2) and headliner to the rear side rail.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

6. Install the screws (1-3) to secure the bracket and headliner to the rear side rail.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).





7. Position the headliner and bracket to the number 1 bow.
8. Install the screws (1) to secure the headliner and bracket to the number 1 bow.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).





9. Install the folding top cover. Refer to Folding Top Cover Replacement (Folding Top Cover Replacement) .
10. Ensure proper operation of the folding top.
