Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure

If the release cable will not operate the latch, access the hood latch by raising the vehicle and removing the front wheelhouse rear filler panel. Then trip the latch with a long screw driver.





1. Remove the right and the left hood latches. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
2. Disconnect the release cable from the latches.
3. Reposition the cables so that the cables slide smoothly through the opening in the dash panel.




4. Remove the screws from the release cable handle.
5. Remove the release cable grommet from the dash panel.
6. Pull the release cables through the opening in the dash panel.



Installation Procedure

1. Route the cables through the opening in the dash panel.



Position the latch handle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

2. Install the screws which mount the hood release handle.

Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).





3. Install the cable grommet through the slits in the carpet insulator and into the dash panel.




4. Connect the cables to the latches.
5. Install the hood latches. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Verify the operation of the latches.
