Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose/Pipe Replacement

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers


Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement (Service and Repair) .




3. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the surge tank using the J 38185 .
4. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the surge tank.




5. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the throttle body assembly using the J 38185 .
6. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the air bleed pipe assembly.




7. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator using the J 38185 .
8. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the radiator.
9. Remove the surge tank inlet hose assembly from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure






Important: Lubricate the inside diameters of the hoses with clean coolant prior to installation.


1. Install the surge tank inlet hose assembly to the vehicle.
2. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the radiator.
3. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator using the J 38185 .




4. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the air bleed pipe assembly.
5. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the throttle body assembly using the J 38185 .




6. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the surge tank.
7. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the surge tank using the J 38185 .
8. Install the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement (Service and Repair) .
9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Service and Repair) .
