Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid.
2. Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve tube quick connect fitting from the purge solenoid valve.
3. Disconnect the chassis EVAP pipe quick connect fitting (3) from the purge solenoid valve.
4. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve bracket bolt.
5. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve and bracket.
6. Insert a small flat-bladed tool between the valve and the bracket in order to release the depress the tab (1) securing the valve to the bracket.
7. Inspect for carbon release in the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve ports. If there is any loose carbon, replace the EVAP canister and any components necessary to remove the carbon particles.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve onto the bracket until the tab (1) engages the valve. It may be necessary to bend the tab up slightly in order for the tab to engage the valve.
2. Position the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve and bracket to the cylinder head.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
3. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve bracket bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
4. Connect the chassis EVAP pipe quick connect fitting (3) to the purge solenoid valve.
5. Connect the EVAP canister purge valve tube quick connect fitting to the purge solenoid valve.
6. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the EVAP canister purge solenoid.
