Knuckle Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service Intervals) .
2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the rear wheel bearing. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (Rear Suspension) .
4. Using a suitable jack, raise the knuckle in order to relieve tension from the shock.
5. Remove the lower shock to knuckle bolt.
6. Remove the coil spring. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement (Coil Spring Replacement) .
7. Remove the toe link. Refer to Toe Link Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle bolt and nut.
9. Remove the trailing arm to knuckle bolts.
10. Remove the stabilizer shaft link to knuckle bolt.
11. Remove the knuckle from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
1. Install the trailing arm to knuckle bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 180 N.m (133 lb ft).
2. Install the upper control arm to knuckle bolt and nut.
Tighten the bolt and nut to 110 N.m (81 lb ft) plus 70 degrees.
3. Install the toe link. Refer to Toe Link Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Install the coil spring. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement (Coil Spring Replacement) .
5. Install the lower shock absorber to knuckle bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 180 N.m (133 lb ft).
6. Install the stabilizer link to the knuckle.
Tighten the bolt to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).
7. Install the rear wheel bearing and brake components. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (Rear Suspension) .
8. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
9. Lower the vehicle.
