Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LAT) (2.4L)

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Service and Repair) .
2. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the heater coolant pump (2).




3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield bolt (3) securing the heater coolant pump bracket.
4. Reposition and secure the heater coolant pump (1) and bracket out of the way.




5. Remove the remaining exhaust manifold heat shield bolts (1).
6. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield (2).



Installation Procedure





1. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield (2) onto the manifold.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

2. Install the 2 exhaust manifold heat shield bolts (1).

Tighten the bolts to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).






Important: Ensure that the heater coolant pump bracket tabs (2) are positioned on either side of the heat shield bracket.


3. Position the heater coolant pump (1) and bracket to the heat shield bracket.
4. Install the remaining exhaust manifold heat shield bolt (3).

Tighten the bolt to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).





5. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the heater coolant pump (2).
6. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (Service and Repair) .
