Shock Absorber Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
3. Using a suitable jack stand, support the knuckle.
4. Remove the lower shock absorber bolt (3) and the washer (2) from the knuckle (1).
5. Remove the upper shock mounting nuts (1).
6. Remove the shock absorber (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the shock absorber (1) in the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .
2. Install the upper shock absorber nuts (1).
Tighten the upper mounting nuts (1) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
3. Install the lower shock absorber bolt (3) and the washer (2) in the knuckle (1).,
Tighten the lower mounting bolt (3) to 180 N.m (133 lb ft).
4. Remove the jack stand from the knuckle.
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
6. Lower the vehicle.
