Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose/Pipe Replacement (LS3, LS7)

Special Tools

J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill).

2. Remove the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement Radiator Support Replacement.





3. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the surge tank using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.

4. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the surge tank.





5. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the throttle body assembly using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.

6. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the air bleed pipe assembly.





7. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.

8. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose from the radiator.

9. Remove the surge tank inlet hose assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





Note:
Lubricate the inside diameters of the hoses with clean coolant prior to installation.

1. Install the surge tank inlet hose assembly to the vehicle.

2. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the radiator.

3. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the radiator using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.





4. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the air bleed pipe assembly.

5. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the throttle body assembly using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.





6. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the surge tank.

7. Disengage tension and reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp at the surge tank using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.

8. Install the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement Radiator Support Replacement.

9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill).
