Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose/Pipe Replacement (LS3, LS7)

J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill).

2. Remove the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement Radiator Support Replacement.





3. Disengage tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp (1) at the surge tank using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.

4. Disconnect the surge tank outlet hose (2) from the surge tank.





5. Disconnect the surge tank outlet hose assembly from the support tabs (1) on the cooling fan shroud.





6. Disengage tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp (1) at the water pump.

7. Disconnect the surge tank outlet hose (2) from the water pump.

8. Using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers, disengage the tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the heater pipe assembly.

9. Disconnect the surge tank outlet hose from the heater pipe assembly.

10. Remove the surge tank outlet hose assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Note:
Lubricate the inside diameters of the hoses with clean coolant prior to installation.





1. Install the surge tank outlet hose assembly to the vehicle.

2. Connect the surge tank outlet hose to the heater pipe assembly.

3. Using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers, engage tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp at the heater pipe assembly.

4. Connect the surge tank outlet hose (2) to the water pump.

5. Using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers, engage tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp (1) at the water pump.





6. Connect the surge tank outlet hose assembly (1) to the support tabs on the cooling fan shroud.





7. Connect the surge tank outlet hose (2) to the surge tank.

8. Engage tension on the surge tank outlet hose clamp (1) at the surge tank using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers.

9. Install the radiator support. Refer to Radiator Support Replacement Radiator Support Replacement.

10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill).
