Power Steering Fluid Reservoir: Service and Repair
Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (LS3, LS7)
Removal Procedure
1. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
2. Place shop towels below the reservoir and around the belt to prevent power steering fluid from contaminating the belt.
3. Remove the capstick (1) from the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) and remove as much power steering fluid as possible.
4. Release the clamp on the reservoir side of the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose.
5. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) from the remote power steering fluid reservoir bracket (5) while disengaging the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose from the reservoir.
6. Remove the power steering return hose from the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2). Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement (LS3, LS7) Power Steering Return Hose Replacement.
7. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) to the vehicle.
Note: Make sure that the alignment mark on the power steering return hose is installed at the bottom of the remote power steering fluid reservoir.
2. Install the following components to the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2):
* The power steering reservoir outlet hose. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement (LS3, LS7) Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Outlet Hose Replacement.
* The power steering return hose. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement (LS3, LS7) Power Steering Return Hose Replacement.
3. Install the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) to the remote power steering fluid reservoir bracket (5).
4. Clean any excessive power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
5. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding Service and Repair.
