Thermostat Housing: Service and Repair




Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Cooling System Draining and Filling.

2. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.

3. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.

4. Remove the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.





5. Remove the following hoses:

* Radiator Outlet Hose (1).

* Heater Inlet Hose (2).

* Heater Outlet (3).

* Surger Tank Hose (4).





6. Remove the thermostat housing fasteners (1) and the thermostat housing assembly (3).

7. Discard the engine coolant thermostat housing seal (2).

Installation Procedure





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

1. Install the engine cooling thermostat housing (3) with a NEW seal (2). Tighten the fasteners (1) to

Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).





2. Install the following hoses:

* Radiator Outlet Hose (1).

* Heater Inlet Hose (2).

* Heater Outlet (3).

* Surger Tank Hose (4).

3. Install the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.

4. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.

5. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.

6. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Cooling System Draining and Filling.
