Steering Wheel Position Sensor or Steering Shaft Lower Bearing Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement Steering Column Replacement.





2. Remove the following from the steering shaft:

1. The intermediate steering shaft boot (5)

2. The steering shaft lower seal (4)

3. The steering shaft lower bearing seal retainer (3)

4. The steering shaft upper seal (2)

3. Remove the steering wheel position sensor (1). Refer to Steering Wheel Position Sensor Centering Steering Wheel Position Sensor Centering.





4. Remove the steering shaft lower bearing from the steering jacket assembly.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the steering shaft lower bearing to the steering jacket assembly.





2. Install the following onto the steering shaft:

1. Install the steering wheel position sensor (1). Refer to Steering Wheel Position Sensor Centering Steering Wheel Position Sensor Centering.

2. The steering shaft upper seal (2)

3. The steering shaft lower bearing seal retainer (3)

4. The steering shaft lower seal (4)

5. The intermediate steering shaft boot (5)

3. Install the steering column into the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement Steering Column Replacement.
