250/250C, 350/350C Automatic Transmission

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove air cleaner assembly, then disconnect detent cable from carburetor.

3. Remove transmission oil dipstick and dipstick tube attaching bolt

4. Raise and support vehicle.

5. Disconnect propeller shaft from transmission.

6. Disconnect speedometer cable and shift linkage from transmission.

7. Disconnect all electrical connectors from transmission and remove any retaining clips from case.

8. Remove transmission support braces and flywheel cover.

9. Mark relationship between flywheel and converter for assembly reference, then remove flywheel-to-converter attaching bolts and/or nuts.

10. Disconnect catalytic converter support bracket, if equipped.

11. Remove transmission mount attaching bolts, then raise transmission slightly with a suitable jack positioned under transmission oil pan.

12. Remove transmission support-to-frame bolts and insulators, if equipped.

13. Slide transmission support rearward and remove from vehicle.

14. Lower transmission slightly, then disconnect oil cooler lines an detent cable.

15. Support transmission with a suitable tool, then remove transmission-to-engine attaching bolts.

16. Install torque converter holding tool No. J-21366 or equivalent and remove transmission from vehicle.

17. Reverse procedure to install.
