1. Support vehicle on hoist and drain oil.
2. Remove flywheel cover and exhaust crossover pipe, then raise engine.
3. Remove oil pan bolts and allow pan to drop. To remove oil pan, front wheels must be turned to the left, also the crankshaft may have to be turned to provide clearance.
4. Reverse procedure to install.Some 1981---84 engines use R.T.V. silicone sealer instead of a cork gasket for oil pan to crankcase sealing. When replacing the oil pan or sealing material on these engines, either R.T.V. sealer or a cork gasket can be used during reassembly. If R.T.V. sealer is used, the pan rail and block sealing surfaces should be cleaned thoroughly and a 1/4 inch bead of sealant applied evenly to the pan rail, avoiding any breaks or gaps in the sealer during application.
