Float Level
Fig. 4 Float level adjustment:
1. Remove air horn and gasket, then the solenoid plunger, metering rods and float bowl insert. If necessary, remove solenoid (lean mixture) adjusting screw, counting the number of turns it takes to bottom screw to aid in reassembly.
2. Attach base tool J-34817-1 or BT-8227A-1, Fig. 4, to float bowl.
3. Position tool J-34817-3 or BT-8227-A into base, ensuring contact pin rests on outer edge of float lever.
4. Using T-scale shown, measure distance from top of casting to top of float, at a point 3/16 inch from large end of float. If adjustment is greater than 2/32 inch from specification, bend float lever up or down as required with bending tool shown, Fig. 4.
5. Repeat measurement and check float alignment.
6. Reinstall solenoid adjusting screw, if removed. Adjust screw to measurement recorded during removal, then reassemble carburetor.
