This cancels and supercedes Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletin #83-147 dated November, 1984 which should be destroyed. This copy corrects the wording pertaining to the availability of parts.
Stainless steel air injection pipe assemblies and check valves are now available for service on 1980-83 V8 and 90~ V6 engines.
Applications affected are Chevrolet Caprice, Camaro, Monte Carlo, and El Camino cars having 3.8L V6, 4.4L V8, 5.0L V8, 5.7L V8 engines with closed loop emission systems. 1980 California and 1981, 1982, 1983 Federal and California versions of these engines can be serviced with the new stainless steel components.
Past model vehicles with corroded pipes should be serviced with stainless steel assemblies and check valves as shown on the attached chart.
