Purging Water From Fuel Tank

WARNING: Follow all fuel safety precautions while handling the fuel/water mixture.

NOTE: Remove fuel filler cap(s) while purging--and replace cap(s) when completed.

1980---84 MODELS WITH WATER IN FUEL DETECTOR

Single Tank Models

Purge water from tank by siphoning or using a pump connected to the 1/4 inch fuel return hose--the smaller of the two hoses, under the hood, near the fuel pump--until all water is removed from the tank.

Dual Tank Models

1. With the fuel selector control switch in the "Main Tank" position, purge water from tank by siphoning or using a pump connected to the 1/4 inch fuel return hose--the smaller of the two hoses, under the hood near the fuel pump--until all water is removed from the main tank.

2. Then place the ignition switch in the ON position, and move the fuel selector control to the auxiliary position. Turn ignition OFF and siphon until all water is removed from auxiliary tank.

NOTE: If water cannot be siphoned within twenty minutes, cycle ignition switch ON and back to OFF to obtain another twenty minute siphon period.
