Fig. 80 Transmission vacuum regulator valve adjustment. 1980---83 Turbo Hydra-Matic 350:
1. Remove air crossover, then install screen covers J26996-2.
2. Remove throttle rod from throttle lever, then loosen transmission regulator vacuum valve injection pump bolts.
3. Install carburetor angle gauge adapter, J-26701-15 on injection pump throttle lever, then place angle gauge, J-26701 on adapter, Fig. 80.
4. Rotate throttle lever to wide open position and set angle gauge to zero degrees.
5. Center bubble in level, then set angle gauge to 50° on 1980 units or 58° on 1981---84 units.
6. Rotate throttle lever so level bubble is centered.
7. Attach a suitable vacuum pump to center port of vacuum regulator valve, then install a vacuum gauge to outside port of vacuum regulator valve. Apply 18---22 inches of vacuum.
8. Rotate vacuum regulator valve clockwise to obtain 10.6 inches of vacuum on 1983---84 models, 81/2 to 9 inches of vacuum on 1981 models and 7 to 8 inches of vacuum on 1980 models.
9. Tighten vacuum regulator to injection pump retaining bolts, then remove vacuum gauge and pump.
10. Install throttle rod to bellcrank, then remove screened covers and install air crossover and air cleaner.
