Oil Pan: Service and Repair

1980---84 G Models
1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove engine cover.
2. Remove air cleaner and studs. Remove fan shroud and radiator upper support brackets.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. On models equipped with a manual transmission:
a. Disconnect clutch cross shaft from motor mount bracket.
b. Remove transmission to bellhousing upper bolt.
c. Remove transmission rear mount bolts and install two 7/16 x 3 inch bolts.
d. Raise transmission and install 2 inch block between mount and crossmember.
5. On all models, remove starter and drain oil.
6. Remove front engine mount through bolts, raise engine and install wood blocks between engine mounts and crossmember brackets.
7. Remove flywheel splash shield or converter cover, as applicable.
8. Remove oil pan bolts and lower pan.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
