Some 1982-1984 S/T Trucks that were produced with the circular plastic fan blade assembly as shown in Figure No. 1, may experience a "snapping" or "cracking" type noise from the fan assembly during engine acceleration. If this condition is encountered, the fan blade assembly must be replaced with the type shown in Figures No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4.
Use the following chart to determine which replacement parts are required. Fan replacement procedures are listed in section 6B of the Light Duty Service manual.

CAUTION: Do not stand in line with any rotating fan assembly while the engine is in operation.

Do not use or repair a damaged fan assembly. An unbalanced fan may fly apart and cause personal injury and/or property damage. Replace any damaged fan assemblies with new assemblies.
