Thermostat: Service and Repair

Thermostat And Housing:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Bolt (72).
4. Outlet (75).
5. Gasket (73).
6. Thermostat (74).

CLEAN
All parts and sealing surfaces.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Install a 3 mm (1/8-inch) bead of RTV sealer 1052289 or equivalent to the groove on the water outlet sealing surface.
2. Thermostat (74).
3. New gasket (73).
4. Outlet (75).
5. Bolt (72).
Tighten
^ Bolt (72) to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
6. Coolant.
7. Negative battery cable.

INSPECT
^ For leaks at the sealing surfaces after starting the engine.
