Reassemble

1. Install new second clutch hub bushing if removed, using tools J 23130-6
and J 8092 or equivalent, driving the bushing until the tool bottoms on bench.

2. Install drum lip seal with lip facing down if necessary, then install outer piston lip seal with lip facing down if necessary. Lubricate seals.






3. Slide tool J 23080-A or equivalent over piston to compress lip seal, then lubricate and install piston into clutch drum. Remove tool No. J 23080-A.

4. Install the 22 springs and retaining seat on second clutch piston. Use compressor J 23327 or equivalent on retaining seat, compress clutch return springs and install snap ring. Use caution when pressing retaining seat into position since damage may occur if the seat engages the snap ring groove. Remove tool No. J 23327.

5. Install second to third thrust washer with tang seated in the slot of second clutch drum Secure washer with petroleum jelly.

6. Install second clutch cushion plate (wave washer) into clutch drum, then alternately install steel and composition clutch plates beginning with a steel plate. Lubricate clutch plates with transmission fluid during assembly. New composition plates must be soaked in automatic transmission fluid for 15 minutes before installation.
