Thermostat: Service and Repair

Thermostat And Housing:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Drain cooling to level below thermostat.
3. Bolt (72).
4. Outlet (75).
5. Gasket (73).
6. Thermostat (74).


CLEAN
^ All parts and sealing surfaces.


INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Install a 3 mm (1/8 inch) bead of RTV sealer 1052289 or equivalent to the groove on the water outlet sealing surface.
2. Thermostat (74).
3. New gasket (73).
4. Outlet (75).
5. Bolt (72).
Tighten
^ Bolt (72) and stud to 28 Nm (21
ft. lbs.).
6. Coolant.
7. Negative battery cable.

INSPECT
^ For leaks at the sealing surface after starting the engine.
