Removal/Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then place suitable drain pan under pump.
2. Loosen belt tensioner, then remove belt.
3. On 4.3L/V6-262 engines, remove rear brace attaching nuts, then the rear brace.
4. On all models, remove pulley, using puller J-29785-A or equivalent.
5. Disconnect and cap pressure and return hoses.
6. Remove pump attaching bolts, then the pump.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten mounting bolts to specifications. If equipped with a 4.3L/V6-262 engine, tighten rear brace-to-stud nut and the brace-to-pump nut to specifications.
