Removal Procedure^ Tools Required
- J 37780 Axle Shaft Remover
- J 26941 Knuckle Seal Remover
- J 29369-1 Axle Bearing Remover
- J 23907 Slide Hammer
1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the left drive axle shaft from the vehicle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shafts Replacement - Left.
3. Use the following steps in order to remove the left inner axle shaft from the front axle housing:
3.1. Install the J 37780 between the front axle housing and the left inner angle shaft flange.
3.2. Gently tap the left inner shaft away from and out of the housing.
4. Use the following steps in order to remove the left inner axle shaft oil sea[ (1) from the front axle housing:
4.1. Install the J 26941 into the left inner axle shaft oil seal (1).
4.2. Tighten the thumb screw on the J 26941 in order to ensure that the J 26941 has a firm grasp on the left inner axle shaft oil seal (1).
4.3. Attach the J 23907 onto the J 2694 1.
4.4. Gently tap the left inner shaft oil seal (1) out of the front axle housing.
Installation Procedure

- J 37770 Axle Shaft Oil Seal Installer
- J 8092 Driver Handle
Important: The right and left axle shaft oil seals (2) are designed to be installed into the front axle housing at different depths. The J 37770 is 2 sided and is stamped with the letters R and L to ensure the correct axle shaft oil seal installation. If either axle shaft seal is incorrectly installed, damage to the seal and/or internal components due to leakage may result.
1. Install the left drive axle shaft into the vehicle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shafts Replacement - Left.
2. Lower the vehicle.
