REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
^ Refer to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Flammability Caution in Service Precautions.
^ Refer to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fuel Pressure Relief Caution in Service Precautions
.

1. Relieve the CNG fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the fuel tank shield.
4. Disconnect the fuel line fitting (1) at the line union (2).
5. Remove the fuel line clamp bolt (3).
6. Remove the clips that hold the fuel line to the brake line. Observe where the clips connect to the brake line for reinstallation.

7. Disconnect the fuel line (1) from the high pressure regulator (2).
8. Remove the fuel line assembly from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Route the fuel line assembly along the frame between the line union fitting and the high pressure regulator.

CAUTION: Refer to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) O-Ring Caution in Service Precautions.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Connect the fuel line (1) to the high pressure regulator (2) using new O-rings. Lubricate the O-rings with petroleum jelly or equivalent before installation.

Tighten
Tighten the fuel line to 37 N.m (27 lb ft).

3. Install the fuel line clamp bolt (3).

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

4. Connect the fuel line fitting (1) to the line union (2) using new O-rings. Lubricate the O-rings with petroleum jelly or equivalent before installation.

Tighten
Tighten the fuel line to 37 N.m (27 lb ft).

5. Install the clips that hold the fuel line to the brake line at the locations previously observed.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
7. Prime the CNG fuel system by cycling the ignition ON and OFF several times.
8. Start the engine and use the J 41416 in order to inspect for CNG fuel system leaks at each serviced fitting.
9. Install the fuel tank shield.
