Fuel Control Solenoid (FCS) Replacement

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 41416 Ultrasonic Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the engine cover.
2. Disconnect the low pressure regulator reference line (3) at the solenoid (7).
3. Remove the spring clamp and atmospheric reference hose from the solenoid (7).
4. Disconnect the electrical connector. The fuel control solenoid connector is black.
5. Remove the 2 solenoid mounting bolts (6).
6. Remove the solenoid.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Position the solenoid (7) and install the 2 mounting bolts (6).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

2. Connect the atmospheric reference hose and the spring clamp.
3. Connect the low pressure regulator reference line (3).
4. Connect the electrical connector.
5. Start the engine and use the J 41416 in order to inspect for leaks at each serviced fitting.
6. Install the engine cover.
