Weatherstrip Replacement - Side Door Opening

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the hinge pillar upper garnish. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar) in Interior Trim.
2. Remove the hinge pillar lower garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Lower Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Lower Pillar) in Interior Trim.
3. Remove the passenger side front corner garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Right Side Front (Garnish Molding Replacement - Right Side Front) in Interior Trim.
4. Remove the passenger side body side trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side (Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side) in Interior Trim.
5. Remove the side door stepwell mat. Refer to Mat Replacement - Stepwell (Mat Replacement - Stepwell) in Interior Trim.




6. Remove the retainers at the lower corners of the side door opening weatherstrip.




7. Pull the side door opening weatherstrip from the door opening pinch-weld flange.




8. Remove the side door opening weatherstrip from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Apply weatherstrip adhesive into the channel on the side door opening weatherstrip. Use GM P/N 12345097 (Canadian P/N 10953479) or the equivalent.

Important: When installing the side door opening weatherstrip, ensure that the corners have not pulled away from the body.


2. Install the side door opening weatherstrip to the vehicle.




3. Align the channel on the side door opening weatherstrip to the door opening pinch-weld flange starting at the corners.
Press the weatherstrip into place.




4. Install the retainers at the ends of the side door opening weatherstrip to the holes in the door opening.
5. Install the hinge pillar upper garnish. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar) in Interior Trim.
6. Install the hinge pillar lower garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Lower Pillar (Garnish Molding Replacement - Lower Pillar) in Interior Trim.
7. Install the passenger side front corner garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Right Side Front (Garnish Molding Replacement - Right Side Front) in Interior Trim.
8. Install the passenger side body side trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side (Trim Panel Replacement - Right Body Side) in Interior Trim.
9. Install the side door step well mat. Refer to Mat Replacement - Stepwell (Mat Replacement - Stepwell) in Interior Trim.
