Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The yaw rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration sensors are combined into one yaw and lateral accelerometer sensor, external to the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The EBCM supplies ignition voltage and a low reference to the yaw and lateral accelerometer sensor. The sensor communicates with the EBCM via serial data circuit. The EBCM activates the electronic stability control function depending on the accelerometer sensor input.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* Ignition ON.
* Ignition voltage is greater than 10 V.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC C0287 00
A correlation error between the longitudinal accelerometer sensor, vehicle speed and the steering wheel angle sensor.
DTC C0287 11
The electronic brake control module detects a fault in the sensor signal voltage.
DTC C0287 3B
The longitudinal accelerometer sensor fails an internal self test.
DTC C0287 4B
The longitudinal accelerometer sensor is not calibrated.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The traction control/stability control-active indicator turns ON.
* The EBCM disables the traction control system and the electronic stability program for the duration of the ignition cycle.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* A current DTC clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
* The EBCM will turn OFF the indicators and enable the system functions in the next ignition cycle.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition ON, verify that DTC C0460 is not set.
• If the DTC is set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.
2. Verify that DTC C0287 4B is not set.
• If the DTC is set, perform the sensor learn. Refer to Vehicle Yaw Sensor Learn Testing and Inspection.
3. Verify the yaw and lateral accelerometer sensor is correctly installed.
• If loose or incorrect installation is diagnosed, correct the installation of the component.
4. Disconnect the harness connector at the yaw and lateral accelerometer sensor.
5. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF. It may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down. Test for less than 10 ohms between the low reference terminal 1 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance.
6. Ignition ON, test for greater than 11 V between the ignition circuit terminal 4 and ground.
• If less than the specified value, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the electronic brake control module.
7. If all circuits test normal, replace the yaw and lateral accelerometer sensor and verify the DTC does not reset.
• If the DTC resets, replace the electronic brake control module.
